Grid for the Modern World is an exhibition of mixes and screensavers curated by Juniper Foam and Seth Weiner for the Palais des Beaux Arts. As an audiovisual playlist, the exhibition presents nine radio mixes, including one by Juniper Foam, who created a 3d-animated screensaver for each of the mixes. The screensavers are textured with archival images from the Atelier Bachwitz's fashion and lifestyle magazine, Moderne Welt, which was published between 1919 and 1939 from the Palais des Beaux Arts building in Vienna. Drawing on the influence of the internet, where long-form mixes or playlists are increasingly combined with ambient visuals, the exhibition connects a contemporary form of listening with modern trends from a century ago.
